Where It All Starts

We care about the timber frame design and build process that comes from our European oak.

The oak starts its journey when the acorn germinates and produces that spark of life. We start from the planting of the seedling, through the nurturing, growth and selection of the oak tree, to its harvesting, cutting, planing and manufacturing to produce the desired effect.

Step 1 - The Inspiration

At the beginning of the process of our oak framed buildings, much like the acorn, it all starts with an idea. An Oak framed garage, garden room, extension, a house, whatever oak frame you are thinking of from contemporary oak framed houses to traditional oak structures, we have the expertise and experience to help. Hardwoods group work with selected experts in their field to produce the exacting specification of oak framed buildings we supply today.

Step 2 - The Design process

After the inspiration has surfaced and you have in mind the design you want, Hardwoods Group design team will work with your idea to produce an online concept model and produce 3D imagery of the proposed oak frame.

Using market leading software packages, we turn these ideas and images into working drawings and ensure that the customer is entirely satisfied with the result. The manufacture process is then ‘walked through’ to ensure seamless production.

Step 3 - The Manufacture

This is where Hardwoods Group move up a gear and into the forefront of hardwood manufacturing with our 6-axis computer controlled CNC machine. Capable of working with beams in excess of 9 meters long, this is a fascinating process to watch and produces joints and structures to within tolerances of millimetres. This process ensures that our oak designs are produced efficiently and with minimum effort. Watch our solid oak office sign in production below.

Step 4 - The Quality

After the timber frame design and build process, the team at Hardwoods Group works tirelessly to ensure that the oak frame is delivered in top condition and ready for its speedy onsite installation that we pride ourselves on.

Oak beams are sanded by hand and the frame is then tested and assembled in-house so that that the production is absolutely perfect and every joint fit snugly. The components of the oak frame are then numbered for ease of onsite reference and packaged carefully thus creating premium delivery conditions.

Step 5 - The Delivery

The success of our oak framed buildings is the speed and accuracy of their onsite installation. As all joints come numbered and perfectly preformed with clear installation plans, the associated cost of the erection process is absolutely minimised.

Traditionally secured with hardwood pegs, even large frames can be installed within days with fewer personnel than normally required.
