Client Requirements
The client wanted a dedicated garden room that served as both a luxury leisure space and a social retreat. The brief for the trusses centred around two core needs:
– Air Dried oak for a more stable timber option and reduce movement over time
– Trusses of a sufficient strength to support the roof of the garden room building
Because this room would act as a high-use recreational environment, longevity and natural material quality were also key priorities.
Our Solution
We supplied a set of precision-engineered air dried oak truss kits, designed bespoke to suit the dimensions and function of the garden room.
How our oak truss system addressed the brief:
– Exposed air dried oak trusses formed both the load-bearing roof structure and the architectural focus
– Mortise and tenon joints, pegged traditionally, added heritage detail and strength
– All trusses were supplied as a pre-formed kit, labelled and ready for assembly to minimise build time
The timber was intentionally supplied with the natural character caused by the air drying process already visible, to match into the rustic vibe of the Listed building.
Result
The completed garden room is a showcase of modern leisure living framed by traditional craftsmanship.
Key outcomes:
– A fully functional golf simulator sits comfortably beneath the vaulted truss line, providing unrestricted swing height and excellent acoustics
– The oak framework pairs beautifully with dark herringbone flooring and bespoke cabinetry, creating a warm, inviting bar environment
– The space feels spacious, refined and architecturally striking, its character defined by the oak structure rather than additional finishes
